Web Designer-Developer – WordPress & Shopify (Mid level)

Are you an experienced WordPress & Shopify developer with a great eye for design and experienced in adapting and creating themes?

If so you’re in the right place and we need someone just like you!

Fresh Pies is a growing team creating websites mainly in WordPress (and Shopify for the majority of ecommerce websites). The majority of our websites are created by adapting WordPress themes but there is often a requirement for a more bespoke solution, some projects may need minor tweaks, others will need new functionality or a bespoke solution.

The role:

We’re growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and creative WordPress and Shopify  designer-developer. You’ll be responsible for both front-end and back-end development including adapting and creating WordPress & Shopify themes, apps and plugins.

You’ll need a combination of programming skills (PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript please) and strong aesthetic abilities (understanding colour, font and element arrangements on screen). You must also have a  strong understanding of industry trends.

Working alongside our senior designer/developer, you’ll be working on multiple projects including ongoing support for our existing clients.

Being a small team, you must be willing to take initiative, be a great communicator, capable of managing tasks on your own, yet also embrace working together as a team.

Some specifics we are looking for:

  • 3+ years of commercial experience.
  • Expert knowledge of WordPress, themes and plugins.
  • Knowledge of Shopify, themes and apps.
  • Front-end development experience using Javascript, HTML5 & CSS3.
  • Knowledge of Javascript, JQuery, PHP or MYSQL database.
  • Design and development experience with Shopify CMS and Liquid.
  • Strong experience in implementing responsive design.
  • You can perform browser testing and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
  • Website optimisation for SEO, performance and speed.
  • Excellent eye for design across websites and other digital media.
  • Knowledge of Adobe products including XD, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Understanding of digital marketing, branding and print (not essential).
  • Experience of Mailchimp/Email marketing tools (not essential).

Your Benefits:

  • Salary expectation is £25K to £35K depending on experience.
