Are you an experienced WordPress designer/developer with a great eye for design and experienced in adapting and creating themes?

If so, you’re in the right place and we need someone just like you!

Fresh Pies is a growing team creating websites mainly in WordPress (and Shopify for ecommerce websites). The majority of our websites are created by adapting WordPress themes but there is often a requirement for a more bespoke solution, some projects may need minor tweaks, others will need new functionality or a bespoke solution.

The role:

We’re growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and creative WordPress designer/developer. You’ll be responsible for both front-end and back-end development including adapting and creating WordPress themes and plugins.

Working alongside our digital designer and our technical lead, you’ll be working on multiple projects including ongoing support for our existing clients.

You’ll need a combination of programming skills and strong aesthetic abilities (understanding colour, font and element arrangements on screen). You must also have a  strong understanding of industry trends.

Being a small team, you must be willing to take initiative, be a great communicator, capable of managing tasks on your own, yet also embrace working together as a team.

Some specifics we are looking for:

  • 3+ years of commercial experience.
  • Expert knowledge of WordPress, themes and plugins.
  • Front-end development experience using HTML5, CSS3 & Javascript.
  • Knowledge of PHP and MYSQL database.
  • Strong experience in implementing responsive design.
  • You can perform browser testing and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
  • Website optimisation for SEO, performance and speed.
  • Excellent eye for design across websites and other digital media.
  • Knowledge of Adobe products including XD, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of Shopify, themes and apps (not essential).
  • Understanding of digital marketing, branding and print (not essential).
  • Experience of Mailchimp/Email marketing tools (not essential).

Your Benefits:

  • Salary expectation is £30K to £40K depending on experience.
