Location: Hybrid working – from home + Balham/Clapham
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 dependent on experience

Fresh Pies is a web design agency. We craft websites mainly in WordPress (and Shopify for ecommerce websites), creating sophisticated and finessed designs, developed to high standards and expectations.  We also offer branding, print and digital marketing services to our broad range of clients. We are very passionate about our craft and the quality of our work speaks for itself. 

All our work comes through recommendations and referrals, as we grow, we aim to maintain the quality of our work across all our design solutions. Most of our websites are created in WordPress using page builders or adapting themes, although there is often a requirement for a more bespoke solution. In terms of ongoing support for our clients, some may need minor tweaks, others may need more advanced functionality. We work closely and collaboratively as a team, supporting each other in our roles, ensuring we deliver the highest standard of work for our clients.

We’re growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and creative Front-end Web Designer, who has proven experience in designing and building beautiful websites.

The role:

  • You’ll be responsible for front-end design and development including adapting and creating WordPress & Shopify themes, apps and plugins.
  • Build new websites from XD/Figma designs.
  • Build high-quality, responsive layouts with smooth interactions, transitions and animations.
  • Update existing websites from project briefs, designs & wireframes.
  • Work alongside our senior designer and senior developer, you’ll be working on multiple projects including ongoing support for our existing clients.
  • Provide time estimates and documenting/checking requirements
  • Work across Adobe Creative Suite, including XD, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Perform browser testing and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
  • Website optimisation for SEO, performance and speed.
  • Work with team collaboration tools including Google docs, Slack and Trello.
  • Being a small team, you must be willing to take initiative, be a great communicator, capable of managing tasks on your own, yet also embrace working together as a team.

You must have:

  • At least 3 years experience at an agency or similar.
  • A portfolio of digital designs, which highlights your understanding of branding and Web / UX / UI
  • Expert knowledge of WordPress, themes, page builders and plugins, specifically WP Bakery & Elementor.
  • Front-end development experience using HTML5 & CSS3.
  • Strong aesthetic abilities (understanding colour, font and element arrangements on screen). 
  • A strong understanding of industry trends.
  • Strong experience in implementing responsive design.
  • A real eye for detail as well as typography, colour and layout.
  • A passion for all things creative and able to work autonomously but also collaboratively too.
  • A natural curiosity for new and emerging tools and technologies.
  • The ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Excellent eye for design across websites and other digital media.
  • Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
  • Ability to apply best practice modular web development.
  • Awareness of web performance best-practice, developing for accessibility and SEO

Nice to have, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of Javascript / JQuery, PHP or MYSQL.
  • Knowledge of Shopify, Liquid, themes and apps.
  • Understanding of digital marketing, branding and print.
  • Experience of Mailchimp/Email marketing tools.

  • We are a digital-first company. We’ll reopen office space when we feel it is safe to do so, so you’ll have the option to work fully in-office, fully remote or a combination. Office location will be around Clapham/Balham.
