Fresh Pies is a digital agency. We craft websites mainly in WordPress (and Shopify for ecommerce websites), creating sophisticated and finessed designs, developed to high standards and expectations.  We also offer branding, print and digital marketing services to our broad range of clients. We are very passionate about our craft and the quality of our work speaks for itself. 

All our work comes through recommendations and referrals, as we grow, we aim to maintain the quality of our work across all our design solutions. Most of our websites are created in WordPress, the requirements of every project are very different, sometimes we use page builders or adapt themes, although more commonly we develop a more bespoke solution. In terms of ongoing support for our clients, some may need minor tweaks, others may need more advanced functionality. We work closely and collaboratively as a team, supporting each other in our roles, ensuring we deliver the highest standard of work for our clients.

We’re growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and creative WordPress Developer, who has proven experience in developing exceptional websites.

The role:

  • You’ll be responsible for front-end and backend development.
  • Adapting and creating WordPress & Shopify themes, apps and plugins.
  • Build new websites from XD/Figma designs.
  • Build high-quality, responsive layouts with smooth interactions, transitions and animations.
  • Update existing websites from project briefs, designs & wireframes.
  • Work alongside our senior designer and senior developer, you’ll be working on multiple projects including ongoing support for our existing clients.
  • Provide time estimates and documenting/checking requirements.
  • Perform browser testing and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
  • Website optimisation for SEO, performance and speed.
  • Work with team collaboration tools including ClickUp, Clockify, Google docs, Dropbox, Slack and Trello.
  • Being a small team, you must be willing to take initiative, be a great communicator, capable of managing tasks on your own, yet also embrace working together as a team.

You must have:

  • At least 3 years experience at an agency or similar.
  • Expert knowledge of WordPress, themes, page builders and plugins, specifically WP Bakery & Elementor.
  • A portfolio of digital work, which highlights your development experience.
  • Front-end development experience using HTML5 & CSS3.
  • Great understanding of PHP back-end development, Javascript and MYSQL.
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
  • A strong understanding of industry trends.
  • Strong experience in implementing responsive design.
  • A passion for all things creative and able to work autonomously but also collaboratively too.
  • Liaise with team and provide clear solutions for consideration.
  • A natural curiosity for new and emerging tools and technologies.
  • The ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
  • Ability to apply best practice modular web development.
  • Website optimisation for SEO, performance and speed.
  • Awareness of developing for accessibility.

Nice to have, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of Shopify, Liquid, themes and apps.
  • Experience with various JS libraries.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics
  • Understanding of digital marketing, branding and print.
  • Experience of Mailchimp/Email marketing tools.
  • Strong aesthetic abilities (understanding colour, font and element arrangements on screen).
  • An eye for detail as well as typography, colour and layout.
  • Good eye for design across websites and other digital media.

Your Benefits:

  • Salary expectation is £30K to £45K depending on experience.
  • Happy to consider flexible working hours.
  • We are a digital-first company. We’ll reopen office space when we feel it is safe to do so, so you’ll have the option to work fully in-office, fully remote or a combination. Office location will be around Clapham/Balham.
