Fresh Pies is a digital design agency crafting websites, brands, digital marketing and print. Our core focus is designing and developing sophisticated, high-performing websites – primarily in WordPress and Shopify for ecommerce.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly creative Digital Design Lead to take ownership of all design output across the agency.
This is a hands-on role where you will lead and evolve the creative output of the agency – setting standards, building systems, and ensuring everything we produce is thoughtful, refined, and commercially effective. You’ll also act as a senior voice in client relationships, guiding projects from early concept through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Project Ownership
- Define and lead the overall design direction of the agency
- Lead digital design projects from concept through to launch
- Own and uphold design quality across all projects
- Deliver high-performing, visually refined digital experiences
- Remain hands-on in key projects, particularly at concept and final execution stages
- Ensure work is delivered to a high standard, on time and within scope
UX, UI & Design
- Lead UX and UI across web projects (user journeys, IA, prototypes, responsive design)
- Develop and maintain scalable design systems in Figma
- Ensure a systems-thinking approach across all digital work
- Champion accessibility, usability, and performance
- Support campaigns with digital assets, motion, and occasional print work
Collaboration & Client Engagement
- Run client meetings, presentations, and feedback sessions
- Translate business goals into clear design solutions
- Collaborate with developers, marketers, and leadership
- Contribute to pitches, proposals, and early-stage concepts
Team Development & Standards
- Help grow and mentor the design team
- Define and evolve design processes and best practices
- Work with external partners where needed
- Maintain consistency and excellence across all outputs.
AI & Innovation
- Support and evolve AI-assisted design and build workflows within the studio
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, creativity, and scalability through AI tools
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry developments
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a digital agency or similar environment
- Proven experience in a senior or lead design role
- Strong portfolio demonstrating high-end digital design and branding
- Expert in Figma, including design systems and prototyping
- Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong UX understanding (user flows, IA, wireframing, responsive design)
- Strong knowledge of designing for WordPress and/or Shopify environments
- An understanding of digital including responsive layouts, smooth interaction, transitions and animations.
- Experience with motion design (After Effects, Premiere Pro)
- Excellent typography, layout, and visual hierarchy skills
- Ability to take projects from brief to high-fidelity design independently
- The ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced agency environment
- Confident communicator, both internally and client-facing
Desirable
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and front-end constraints
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms
